The Black Country has been at the heart of manufacturing within the West Midlands. Anand Chhabra mined photographs from his own photographic archive and then scanned original images taken at a polishing and plating in Wolverhampton. The Indian owned Factory revealed the make up of the majority Indian Punjabi workers amongst the various machinery at the plant, the workers were largely from migrants from the 1960s-80s and took up jobs largely in manufacturing. The photographs were all taken in Wolverhampton and reveal hidden history of Punjabi workers in the area. Today the factory is still operating and the make up of workers has until recently been mainly from Eastern European countries. All images photographed on Kodak TRI-X film © Anand Chhabra 1992.
